Local: District 25 Senate race: Milledgeville's Floyd Griffin will challenge Johnny Grant in NovemberDistrict 141 candidate Quentin T. Howell: “The common people don’t have a voice"The upcoming District 141 race might not have the drama of the Hillary vs. Barack primary race of two years ago, but it will be interesting to see who ends up the winner. New ideas are definitely needed to help bring back industry to Milledgeville/Baldwin County that has lost thousands of jobs over the past few years. Quentin T. Howell has been a very active and vocal person in regard to local issues, and his weekly Sunday radio show on WVKX-FM provides a platform for citizens to talk about the issues that affect them. Milledgeville and Baldwin County had been affected by the closing of a local Rheem plant that manufactured air conditioners, layoffs at Milledgeville's Central State Hospital along with layoffs at a local Shaw Industries plant. Howell will now take another step in being an advocate for the people with the announcement of being a candidate for the Georgia House of Representatives, representing people of the 141st District. This is Howell’s first attempt in running for office. However, he has been very active inside the state’s Democratic Party. Currently, he serves as vice-chair for the Central Georgia Democratic Coalition. The District 141 seat is currently occupied by Rusty Kidd, an independent. Kidd has been mostly a lobbyist before securing the now
retired Representative Bobby Parham’s seat in a 2009 special election.
