THE RURAL PROGRESSIVE: (#27) Wilcox County's census figures provide clues

Wilcox County, Georgia has been historically a conservative county for countless election cycles, but there are many signs that there is a very strong progressive base. Unfortunately, there is no local newspaper in the county

THE RURAL PROGRESSIVE: (#28) Dublin, East Dublin and Montrose give Dems chance

Laurens County is a trendsetter and provides a metaphorical litmus test in regard to whether how well Democrats are doing and how strong Republicans have performed. Politically, it is a challenging county.

THE RURAL PROGRESSIVE: (#29) Statesboro provides pathway for Dems in Bulloch Co.

Statesboro is a college town and home to Georgia Southern University. Statesboro and Bulloch County aren't as progressive as Athens--home of the University of Georgia-- and Clarke County, but Democrats can do well in this area.

THE RURAL PROGRESSIVE: (#30)Grady County has large independent, progressive base

Cairo is nicknamed the "Syrup City" and earned its nickname by producing cane syrup from the early 1900s through the late 1990s.

THE RURAL PROGRESSIVE: (#31)Toombs is diverse despite conservative voting record

Toombs is diverse despite conservative voting record Toombs County is well-known for its sweet Vidalia onions, the state vegetable of Georgia. Additionally, Vidalia has the distinction of being the "Sweet Onion Capital of the World."
