Morehouse releases 2008
football Schedule
ATLANTA -- Morehouse College has released its 2008 football schedule.
The 10-game schedule features nine conference games and two classics. Only three
of the games will be played at Morehouse’s B.T. Harvey Stadium.
In 2007, under first-year head coach Rich Freeman, the Morehouse College Maroon
Tigers compiled a record of 7-3 (4-3 SIAC).
Morehouse’s 4-3 conference record was good enough for fourth place in the
Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and was well ahead of the
tenth-place finish predicted by SIAC football coaches in a preseason poll.
For the second time in three years, the Maroon Tigers will travel to California
to play in the Los Angeles Coliseum. This year’s event is the Angel City
Classic, which will pit the SIAC against the SWAC.
On September 27, Morehouse will square off against the Panthers of Prairie View
A&M University, of the Southwest Athletic Conference. In 2006, the Maroon Tigers
played at the coliseum against Alcorn State University, in the now-defunct
Silver Dollar Classic.
Continuing the oldest rivalry in black-college football, Morehouse will once
again compete against Tuskegee, in the 73rd Annual Tuskegee-Morehouse Classic,
in Columbus, GA., on October 11, at 2 p.m.
The Morehouse Homecoming game will be October 25, at 2 p.m. against the Golden
Rams of Albany State.
